About me

Juan Díaz-Faes

Born in Oviedo, northern Spain, Juan Díaz-Faes grew up drawing among papers and walls before studying Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. He later pursued a doctorate where he researched the creative process, interested in how ideas originate and where they come from.

In 2011 he moved to Madrid where he developed his prolific creative career. His versatility has led him to explore and explore different territories and disciplines such as illustration, posters, his incursion as a writer and illustrator of comics, muralism, painting and digital art.

With a restless, sincere and casual look on artistic creation, and a friendly and approachable visual language, this artist manages to give life to sympathetic compositions and characters thanks to geometric shapes, lines and bustling patterns. But at the same time, Diaz-Faes’ work and narrative require attention and a detailed reading, as it offers its own multiplicity and meaning in every detail. Each work contains within itself differences. Each stroke takes over the spaces and different materials on which he works as support (canvas, paper, aged fabrics, cement, ceramic, wood, digital…) opening a new world of aesthetic perception. This is undoubtedly one of the most significant dimensions of the artist’s world, which gives us back the ability to feel and perceive, in a time and historical context that strips us of those sensations.

Since 2017, cities such as Miami, Austin, Guangzhou, Punta del Este, Seoul, Caracas, Paris, Hamburg, Madrid, Oviedo or Santander have large-format murals signed by Díaz-Faes.

The artist has also exhibited at: Conde Duque (Madrid), Point Éphémére Center (Paris), Solo Museum (Madrid), Villazán Gallery (Madrid), Hyundai Museum ALT1 (Seoul), Sholeh Agbhari Gallery (Marbella), Cerquone Gallery (Caracas), Volery Gallery (Dubai), Mitsukoshi Gallery (Tokyo)…. And he has participated in art fairs such as: Urvanity Art Fair (Madrid), Urban Break (Seoul and Busan), The One Art (Taipei), Culture Art Park (Tokyo), or CerARTmic (Madrid), among others.
